The NNA’s annual “Goodbye Summer/Hello Neighbors” gathering will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 PM at Happy Hollow Park. All Northside and Deweyville neighbors are cordially invited to attend. We’ll supply Wedge pizza and water and/or lemonade, and as in past years, we invite neighbors to bring a salad, other side dish, and/or dessert to share. We’re also hoping to organize some adult/kid games during the event, so if you’re a softball or soccer fan, come ready to play. The screening will be followed by a discussion with individuals portrayed in the films and a brief reception. “Music on the Move” slides into Happy Hollow Park for a free show by the Goat Hollow Boys, a group of Iowa City-based friends who love playing honest, emotional, original Iowa country-punk together. Featuring members from several beloved local bands, they channel a heartfelt and high-energy sound that is guaranteed to be a fun time. If you live on or near N. Dodge St. or travel it regularly, you’ll want to attend this  public information meeting. The City says the project will involve “replacement of sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and water main; new concrete pavement, sidewalks, retaining walls, driveway approaches, and traffic signals; and relocation of private overhead and underground utilities. RSFIC is helping Iowa City neighbors get better organized to carry out the transition to long-term, systemic resilience. See and hear about their exciting new Neighborhood Resilience Group initiative directly from those who are the first to try it out — including Northside Neighborhood Association representatives. All Northside neighbors are invited to attend this fun and festive backyard party with food, drinks, live music, games, and more! Now in its fourth year, Iowa City Poetry Alfresco is back for an evening of open-air, in-person progressive readings. This year, it’s happening at private homes, businesses, and parks throughout the Northside, with readings taking place every half hour from 5 to 8 PM.  The event will culminate with a final reading at Happy Hollow Park with party to follow.
