Horace Mann Spring Carnival

Three . . . two . . . one . . . Blast off! This year’s space-themed Spring Carnival is a fundraiser for the Horace Mann Elementary School PTO and a community builder. The Carnival and online auction (April 26-May 4) are the PTO's primary fundraising events for the year. Proceeds support Mann teachers, staff, and students in a variety of ways, covering projects that are outside of the school's budget, such as field trips, assemblies, visiting authors/artists, and special curricular materials for teachers. Mann PTO also promotes a sense of belonging and community by sponsoring the back-to-school ice cream social every August, and they provide yearbooks and Mann t-shirts to students with financial need. Help them out and make plans to attend this fun event!

Lead Reduction Open House

Lead Reduction Open House

The City's Water Division is hosting a Lead Reduction Open House to help raise awareness about the Iowa City Lead Reduction Program, which launched in November 2023. The program will help the City adapt to the new Federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, which were passed in the wake of the Flint, Michigan water crisis. The risk of lead exposure in your drinking water comes from lead or lead-contaminated water service lines, which are owned by the property owner, or a home’s plumbing. This event is ideal for residents who have questions, who may have older homes with increased risk of lead, or who just want to learn more. Program details can be found at www.icgov.org/water.
